At Nevermore Academy, Steve Buscemi will be entering the scene. Variety revealed that the well-known performer, known for his roles in Boardwalk Empire and Reservoir Dogs, will be taking on the role of the new school leader in the upcoming season of Wednesday.
Following the conclusion of Season 1, where the school principal Larissa Weens, played by Gwendoline Christie, faced a potential demise after being injured by a syringe filled with Nightshade poison, it seemed inevitable for Nevermore Academy to bring in a new head.
Specifics about the storylines of the second season of Wednesday remain sparse, except for Jenna Ortega’s confirmed reprisal in the lead role. Notably, Ortega is set to act alongside Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder in an upcoming version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and she recently teased about the grandeur of Season 2 in comparison to its forerunner.
“The initial season had visually impressive episodes, like the memorable dance episode, with a unique setting reminiscent of Prom Night or Carrie,” she commented. “Each episode [of season 2] I’ve gotten a glimpse of so far captures that same essence.”
Moreover, Season 2 will introduce a new love interest for Wednesday, with the inclusion of a character named Bruno. This change comes after Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) left the show following allegations of wrongdoings.
The filming of Wednesday is on the cusp of starting, with rumors hinting at an initiation date in April 2024 and a filming period of six months. In a notable change, the filming location for Season 2 will shift from Romania to Ireland.
Talk emerged last year about Netflix possibly considering a spinoff series centered on Uncle Fester, portrayed by Fred Armisen. However, there has not been any official confirmation about the progress of this spinoff at present.
