After the debut of a preview for a brand new real-crime show about the late Tejano sensation Selena, the Quintanilla family has shared their response. The Oxygen mini-series, named Selena & Yolanda: The Hidden Truth, centers on a recent jail conversation with Selena’s killer, Yolanda Saldívar.
Abraham Quintanilla, the father of Selena, made it evident that the Quintanilla family has no association or endorsement of the initiative. TMZ lately chatted with the family’s patriarch. Although TMZ did not directly cite Quintanilla, they conveyed that he “wants absolutely nothing to do with Yolanda herself… because everything she says is nothing but lies, and no one’s gonna believe what she has to say anyway.”
Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, is criticizing Oxygen’s “Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them” documentary series, clearly stating that neither he nor the rest of Selena’s family are involved or supportive of the initiative in any way, shape, or form.

TMZ also summarized Quintanilla, noting that he “wonders what more she has to say that she hasn’t already” and that “everyone knows there’s zero truth to anything that comes out of her mouth.”
A media statement from Oxygen describes the new show as an effort by Saldívar and some of her family to “talk about the two women and reveal never-before-seen documents and recordings… to demonstrate there was more to the tragedy than the public knows.”
“I knew her confidential information,” Saldívar expressed in the show’s preview. “And I think the people deserved to know the actuality.”
Saldívar is presently serving a life sentence with the potential for release on March 30, 2025.
The opening episode of the two-part documentary series Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them will be broadcast on February 17 at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the conclusion on February 18 at 7 p.m. ET. The episodes will be accessible for streaming on Peacock the next day after their airing.
