The Puerto Rican reggaeton icon Yandel is acknowledged not just for his time with the duo Wisin y Yandel but for his solo career as well. Over the last year, he has continually carved out a place for himself in the footwear sector.
In December of the previous year, he augmented his brand by diversifying into shoes through Ewing Athletics. The next month marked the debut of the limited edition Ewing x Yandel Rogue sneaker. For his fans who admire his sneaker designs, a second collaboration is on the way with Ewing Athletics, emphasizing his love for Puerto Rico.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to present this new creation to sneaker fans worldwide,” Yandel mentioned in a press statement. “I take great pride in our first edition, and now we can include this extraordinary new design into our exclusive lineup as a tribute to the city I hold dear, a city that has been pivotal in my growth as a person and an artist.”
Yandel is alluding to New York City, where he will soon unveil the Ewing x Yandel SL33 “Cayey” sneaker. This low-top model, showcasing beige leather and mesh, brown suede, and green leather, will be available for purchase on September 6 at 10 a.m. EST on ewingathletics.com and yandel.com. On the same date, Yandel, together with Ewing Athletics’ Patrick Ewing, will host an in-store event at Stadium Goods in New York City. The name “Cayey” is a nod to his birthplace in Puerto Rico, renowned for its dual peaks.
The joint sneakers will also come wrapped in a distinctive box featuring a comic illustrated in English and Spanish, continuing the storyline initiated with their first sneaker collaboration. Similar to their earlier model, the wrapping paper showcases a Puerto Rican flag, and every pair is delivered with a custom Ewing x Yandel straw bag.
“I’m excited about this new low-top model as it introduces a fresh aspect to the brand,” Ewing commented in a press release. “The SL33 expertly fuses the traditional with the modern, enhancing our collection. Yandel has been a remarkable collaborator, and partnering with him for the past two years has been incredible, making it only right for him to debut the SL33.”
