Prepare for the comeback of Drag Race México’s second season, where a change in co-host has been undertaken. Today, Valentina has given her thoughts on the announcement about the drag artist who will be assuming her position.
Back in May last year, Valentina, a Mexican-American icon, and Lolita Banana, a native of Mexico, had their roles as co-hosts unveiled for the debut season of Drag Race México. In a subsequent interview with Remezcla, Valentina remarked, “Moving into a hosting capacity presents a noteworthy artistic test and milestone.” The Mexican adaptation of RuPaul’s Drag Race kicked off last June and culminated in Christian Peralta being crowned as the initial queen to clinch the title of “Mexico’s Next Drag Superstar” in September.
A sneak peek video for the forthcoming second season hinted that Valentina would not be making a comeback as a co-host. The declaration was made solidifying that Lolita Banana will now be accompanied by Taiga Brava, a Mexican drag performer and the conqueror of the second season of Queen of the Universe. While the rationale behind Valentina’s exit from Drag Race México remains undisclosed, she did express her best wishes for the show and Taiga Brava.
“It was truly an honor to serve as a host during the premiere season of Drag Race México,” shared Valentina in a statement. “I convey my appreciation to my World of Wonder family for enabling the realization of bringing Drag Race to Mexico. Furthermore, I am thankful for all the unwavering support from my beloved fans. I wish the new host nothing but triumph. I will surely be tuning in!”
Subsequent to the revelation of the change in host, Taiga Brava voiced her sentiments about taking over the role previously handled by Valentina. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), she shared her joy about being part of the Drag Race México franchise.
