The eagerly awaited Mexican version of Love is Blind is approaching, and its premiere date has been announced. Netflix has revealed the debut of the show’s second installment in the Latin American region, which is also the first to feature a Spanish-speaking cast, is scheduled for August 1, 2024.
Other countries such as Brazil, Japan, and Sweden have already seen their own takes on the reality show, with the United Kingdom slated to have its rendition released within the same year. The most recent season of the Brazilian version just premiered its first four episodes on June 19th. Moreover, an innovative take titled Love is Blind: Habibi set in the United Arab Emirates, is announced as well.
The responsibility of guiding the Mexican edition falls to Omar and Lucy Chaparro, a couple whose relationship spans over two decades. They stand as a symbol of romance, affection, and mutual admiration. According to Netflix’s press release, their role is to steer participants along an emotive journey to determine if they’re able to find their true match, a person who captivates their heart entirely.
For the uninitiated, Love is Blind is a reality show where individuals establish relationships without seeing each other and make a commitment to marriage before meeting face-to-face. Afterwards, the couples have four weeks to decide whether their bond can endure real-world challenges and truly confirm if romance transcends physical appearance.
The U.S. version of the show has introduced several memorable Latinx contestants, including Amy, the historic sole bride of season 6, and Lydia, the only one to get married in season 5, both of whom are still happily married. Also unforgettable is Season 4’s Jackie, who became one of the most contentious figures in the show’s history after ending things with her first match Marshall, only to rekindle a romance with Josh, who she had initially drifted from during the pod stage.
