The radiant performer at the grand Copa América final on Sunday evening turned out to be Shakira. Through her melody-filled appearance, the vibrant pop idol from Colombia illuminated the inaugural halftime spectacle of the tournament.

Back in May, Shakira announced that her song “Puntería” had been chosen as the official anthem for Univision’s coverage of Copa América. Later in the same month, she confirmed her participation in the halftime event of the Copa América final, where the national soccer squads of Colombia and Argentina were competing for the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa América prize.

During the halftime break, Shakira commanded the spotlight at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL. The esteemed boxing announcer Michael Buffer introduced her performance. Employing state-of-the-art 3D-mapping technology, a giant digital wolf let out a howl before Shakira made her spectacular entrance. She started off her show with “Hips Don’t Lie.”

Unleashing a howl of her own, she emotionally exclaimed in Spanish, “Colombia, te amo!” Soon after, she mesmerized the audience with interpretations of “Te Felicito” and “TQG,” performed without Karol G, who had previously sung Colombia’s national anthem. Shakira closed her enthralling show with “Puntería.”

Shakira gave a glimpse of her upcoming Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The U.S. leg of the tour is scheduled to begin on November 2nd at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, CA. Back in March, she dropped her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran album, which included the international hit “BZRP Music Sessions #53” with Bizarrap.
