As Karol G commemorates her birthday and Valentine’s Day, a distinctive celebration is in store for her. On this special day (Feb. 14), the Colombian sensation unveiled her music video for “Contigo” featuring Tiësto, along with a surprise appearance by Young Miko.

Collaborating with Tiësto and Young Miko is not a new experience for Karol G. Her initial connection with Tiësto was in 2021 for their collaborative track “Don’t Be Shy.” Later, the Dutch DJ released a remix of her popular song “Provenza” last year, which was part of the Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) album. Young Miko also contributed to “Dispo” on the same LP. A standout moment from last year involved Young Miko dancing passionately with Karol G during a live performance at one of her concerts.

“Contigo” encompasses elements from Leona Lewis’ 2007 hit “Bleeding Love,” originally written by Jesse McCartney and Ryan Tedder from One Republic. Tiësto has transformed the heartfelt ballad into a lively Spanish house anthem. In the song, Karol G conveys the joy and fulfillment brought by the presence of that special person in her life. She expresses profound emotions at the mere thought of losing them. With this vibrant Latin adaptation of “Bleeding Love,” Karol G aims to set the clubs ablaze.

Prior to the music video premiere, Karol G hosted a live session on YouTube. She presented “Contigo” as a present to her fans, highlighting its themes of love and friendship. The music video portrays a romantic tale between Karol G and Young Miko, who openly identifies as a lesbian. Together, they are depicted engaging in activities such as playing video games, showering, and dancing passionately. The genuine portrayal of their togetherness in the video draws parallels with scenes from Rihanna’s music video “We Found Love” from 2011. The incorporation of Leona Lewis’ melody, references to Rihanna, and the presence of Young Miko undoubtedly form a deep connection with Karol G’s LGBTQ+ fan base.

At present, Karol G is touring across Mexico with her Mañana Será Bonito Tour. On Feb. 16 and 17, she is set to perform at Monterrey’s Estadio Mobil Super.
