Greetings to the classroom, Josh Segarra has officially joined the esteemed ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary for its upcoming third season. The Puerto Rican performer will take on the role of Manny, one of three “gentle Philadelphia school district representatives who strive to bring innovative viewpoints to their roles as school ambassadors,” as per Deadline.
Prior to this, Segarra has recently been seen in the Apple TV+ comic series The Big Door Prize and had a recurring part in the wrestling-focused drama Heels on Starz. His remarkable TV career has included appearances in The Electric Company, Sirens, The Other Two, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and the CW superhero series Arrow, where he embodied the character of district attorney Adrian Chase, who is ultimately unveiled as the antagonist known as Prometheus.
On the big screen, Segarra’s most recent engagement was in last year’s Scream VI, alongside Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.
The announcement of Segarra’s new role on network TV sparked enthusiasm across social media. Some fans had already spotted Segarra in a recent teaser for the show, sparking questions about his role and generating anticipation, with some hoping to see him portray a teacher at the school or even as a potential romantic interest for lead actress Quinta Brunson’s character, Janine Teagues.
Regardless of the specific character he will portray, fans are eagerly anticipating Segarra’s involvement in Season 3, and are eagerly awaiting further updates.
