Rita Moreno and Jennifer Garner are collaborating on a Netflix holiday film that takes inspiration from beloved classics like Freaky Friday and 13 Going on 30, in which Garner herself starred. The film, titled Family Switch, is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 30th.
Garner and Ed Helms portray a couple named Jess and Bill Walker, who are striving to maintain their family’s bond as their children grow more independent and distant. Rita Moreno enters the scene as an astrological reader, whose unexpected encounter causes the entire family to wake up in each other’s bodies on a significant day in their lives.
In the trailer, Moreno imparts some wise yet slightly clichéd advice to the family, suggesting that they need to mend the broken aspects of their dynamics. While Family Switch doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it thrives on the familiarity of this concept.

The film poses the question of whether the Walkers can unite to achieve a promotion, college interview, record deal, and soccer tryout. The trailer emphasizes this central theme.
Based on the novel “Bedtime for Mommy” by Amy Krouse-Rosenthal, the movie also includes Emma Myers, Brady Noon, Bashir Salahuddin, Matthias Schweighöfer, Xosha Roquemore, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Paul Scheer, and Fortune Feimster.
Honestly, Moreno’s involvement and the premise alone were enough to convince us. With holiday films often blending together, this one is certain to stand out. But with Rita Moreno joining the cast, we are definitely tuning in.
