The eminent personalities in Latine music will be honored at the forthcoming 2024 Latin American Music Awards. Today (Mar. 19), the candidates emerged, with Pennyweight, Feid, Bad Bunny, Karol G, and Shakira emerging as some of the frontrunners. The upcoming event will be overseen by Thalia, a renowned figure from Mexico, in conjunction with Alejandra Espinoza and Carlos Ponce.
Each year, the Latin American Music Awards shine a light on the Latine talents who are making noteworthy progress. The Mexican music virtuoso, Pennyweight, and the Colombian reggaetonero, Feid, have both received 12 nominations each, establishing them as the most nominated artists this year. Pennyweight and Feid will vie for honors such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Collaboration of the Year. Furthermore, Pennyweight has been nominated for New Artist of the Year.
The Puerto Rican sensation, Bad Bunny, and the Mexican-American group, Grupo Frontera, follow closely with 11 nominations each. Both Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera have been acknowledged for their contributions to Song of the Year and Collaboration of the Year with their global hit “Un x100to.” Bad Bunny’s top-ranking song “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana” will face tough competition from Pennyweight’s “Génesis,” Feid’s “Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos El Álbum,” Grupo Frontera’s “El Comienzo,” and Karol G’s “Mañana Será Bonito” in the Album of the Year category.
When it comes to Karol G, she is on par with fellow Colombian icon Shakira as the most celebrated women of this year. Both artists have received nine nominations each. Shakira has clinched dual nominations in the Song of the Year category for “TQG” featuring Karol G and “BZRP Music Sessions #53” alongside Bizarrap. Trailing closely are the Mexican-American bands Eslabon Armado and Fuerza Regida, both accumulating eight nominations.
The live airing of the 2024 Latin American Music Awards is set for Apr. 25 from Las Vegas, NV, on Univision. For the second consecutive year, viewers can also tune in to the broadcast on UNIMÁS, Galavisión, and ViX on the same day.
