The artist hailing from Brazil, Pabllo Vittar, has forged an alliance with adidas to introduce a unique ensemble dedicated to Pride Month in 2024. Vittar, associating with an array of LGBTQIA+ athletes and advocates, is part of an initiative promoting solidarity under the banner “Love Unites.” Key figures participating in this campaign comprise British diver Tom Daley; WNBA icon Layshia Clarendon; Stonewall FC London’s Jo Kokkinopliti; and the founder of Athlete Ally, Hudson Taylor.
“Celebrating Pride is profoundly meaningful for me, and partnering with adidas to honor our community is a source of immense joy,” Vittar expressed. “With this line, my aspiration is to widen the lens through which we are seen – employing a palette that celebrates and acknowledges the diverse identities within our community and the influences we cast.”
Adidas has described the range as “designed to revel in the confidence that emerges when athletes can be their authentic selves.” The brand revealed insights within its announcement, noting that 43 percent of LGBTQIA+ individuals seldom partake in sports, with almost half expressing the desire for increased participation.
“Our ongoing collaboration with Athlete Ally focuses on removing barriers to sports engagement – striving for a world that is more inclusive, equitable, and open, where sports participation is achievable by everyone,” articulated Ashley Czarnowksi, Senior Director of adidas Global Purpose, in her statement.
Taylor observed that since the beginning of their collaboration with adidas in 2020, they have realized “notable advances” in fostering more equitable practices in sports. “This year, we forge ahead with our collaborative initiatives by convening the third Athlete Activism Summit, aiming to eradicate more obstacles by equipping attendees with the strategies and resources necessary for amplifying athlete-to-athlete empowerment,” he professed.
