An influential personality in mexa reggaeton has delved into dembow tunes. Today (July 15), the emerging Mexican artist Bellakath introduced her record Sata 42, showcasing collaborations with talents from the Dominican Republic such as La Perversa, La Materialista, and others.
Prior to the emergence of Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma with their popular remix “La Bebe,” the talent who initially popularized mexa reggaeton was Bellakath. Originating from Mexico City, she achieved global recognition a few months ago with “Gatita,” a single that garnered immense fame on TikTok. The track has accumulated over 222 million streams on Spotify. Last year, Bellakath continued to unveil hit tracks on her initial album Kittyponeo, including songs like “Reggaeton Champagne” and “Tuma.”
In May, Bellakath signed a contract with Warner Music México. Following this pivotal moment in her career, she journeyed to the Dominican Republic to collaborate on the Sata 42 album. This marked Bellakath’s first venture into dembow music alongside various Dominican artists. “I am thankful for the knowledge imparted in the Dominican Republic,” she shared in an Instagram post. “And always indebted to Mexico. This is Dominican dembow!”
Bellakath solidifies her position in dembow music with her unique high-pitched vocals, authoritative delivery, and the support of numerous Dominican dembow talents. Included in the partnerships with dembow icons on Sata 42 are “Tota” featuring La Perversa and “Quiero Coger” featuring La Materialista. Bellakath also collaborates with Químico Ultra Mega on “Nena Del Caserío” and ADAN on “Malito.” She also joins efforts with Jey One, Lomiell, La Más Doll, and Donaty — artists who all presented some of the leading dembow tracks of 2023 — on “Otra Cosa,” “Chupa Coño,” “Clito,” and “Mama Huevo,” respectively. The album also presents a joint effort with Menor Queen on “Tu No La Tiene.”
Bellakath continues to elevate the mexa reggaeton realm by merging Mexican influences and flair into dembow music. In her Instagram update, the songstress also teased the arrival of music videos for the songs from the Sata 42 album beginning later today. Besides crafting the tracks in the Dominican Republic, she also filmed the corresponding music videos on-site.
