When we were kids, going to McDonald’s with our mom was always a treat. The happy meals, complete with a toy, brought joy to our day. No matter the occasion, the fast-food chain was the ultimate destination for any child.

In Wisconsin, a three-year-old toddler loves McDonald’s so much that he managed to sneak out of his house and walk to the restaurant by himself. His mother shared the terrifying story on TikTok, recounting the moment she discovered her son was missing. According to her, she woke up and realized he was not in the house. With a sense of panic, she searched everywhere for him, only to find out that he had put on his shoes and walked to McDonald’s.

Marissa Phiffer, a 23-year-old mother of three-year-old twins Aiden and Aleiya, had fallen asleep beside her children in their crib. When she woke up, Aiden was gone, causing her to panic and call 911 to report a missing child. Luckily, the police arrived quickly with a photo of Aiden, assuring Phiffer that her son was safe. He had walked to the McDonald’s across the street, and a concerned citizen had spotted him and called the police.

Phiffer immediately drove to McDonald’s with her daughter, and when she entered the restaurant, Aiden greeted her with a cheerful “Hi, Mom!” He was having a great time in the play area until his mom showed up.

Phiffer was too relieved to be angry at Aiden and admitted that the situation almost gave her a heart attack. She refrained from buying him a Happy Meal out of embarrassment, and they quickly left.

Aiden’s love for McDonald’s is undeniable. According to his mother, he often wakes up when they pull up to the drive-thru window. Fries, nuggets, and apple slices are his favorite, but his visit to the PlayLand at McDonald’s was a first.

To prevent Aiden from sneaking out again, Phiffer installed childproof safety locks in their home. However, the TikTok video documenting the incident sparked a discussion on child safety, gaining over three million views.

Many mothers in the comment section shared similar experiences with their children. Some expressed their fear when their child went missing, while others found humor in the situation. Other users offered tips on childproofing homes to avoid such incidents, including using door handle caps and toddler locks.

It is clear that childproofing your home is essential to keep children safe. Adding extra security to all entry points in the house can reduce the risk of unsupervised wandering.
