Set to make its global debut at the renowned Sundance Film Festival, an intriguing fusion of horror and romantic comedy titled Your Monster will feature Melissa Barrera (known for her role in Scream 6). The initial preview of the film is now available.

Your Monster, written and directed by emerging filmmaker Caroline Lindy, follows the story of Laura Franco, a reserved artist whose life is falling apart. According to the official synopsis presented by Sundance, Laura “rediscovers her voice when she encounters a terrifying yet strangely captivating creature residing in her closet.”

In early glimpses, Barrera is seen donning matching outfits with two other women, sporting a coordinated vacant gaze as they dance with the creature while portraying the Bride of Frankenstein. Later, she shares a moment with the creature, presumably in her living space.

“Excited to announce the premiere of Your Monster at Sundance this January!” shared Barrera on social media. “Incredibly proud of the entire team who worked to bring this enchanting film to life. Can’t wait to share this story with all of you.”

The revelation of Your Monster comes after Barrera, recognized for her portrayal of Sam Carpenter in the last two Scream movies, was dismissed from the series due to her social media commentary in support of Palestine.

Spyglass Media Group, the production company behind the Scream movies, issued a statement regarding Melissa Barrera, stating, “We do not tolerate antisemitism or the incitement of hatred in any form, including the misrepresentation of genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion, or any other content that blatantly crosses into hate speech.”

Other talented Latin artists set to shine in films at the Sundance Film Festival include Pedro Pascal (Freaky Tales), Sasha Calle (In the Summers), Indya Moore (Ponyboi), Aubrey Plaza (My Old Ass), Camila Cabello (Rob Peace), Danny Ramirez (Winner), and Adria Arjona (Hit Man).
