Starbucks has collaborated with Cuban/Salvadoran artist and illustrator Manuela Guillén to launch a new line of drinkware in honor of Heritage Month. This collection features three tumblers and a mug, showcasing bright colors, intricate designs, and bilingual text.
In a statement on the Starbucks website, GuillĂ©n expressed her desire for the collection to embody the diversity present within the Latin American community. She noted, “When you think about Latin America – we’re a very diverse group. People may ski in the south or live near the beach in the Caribbean. I am hoping it’s a beautiful little collection where people can see themselves.”
Among the featured items is a white tumbler that displays a self-portrait of the artist surrounded by vibrant flora and fauna weaving through the strands of her black hair. Also included is a blue, 24-ounce cup emblazoned with the phrase “Buenas Vibras” (Good Vibes) in glittering text, complemented by botanical and organic shapes. Another 24-ounce cold cup illustrates a figure reaching for the sun, with the Spanish word “Hola” (Hello) on the left arm and “hi” on the right. Finally, a matte black mug is adorned with various plant and animal designs, featuring the text “Manuela GuillĂ©n + Starbucks” near the rim inside.
In a TikTok video, Guillén shared her affection for the Hispanic-Latine community and conveyed her hope that the designs reflect brightness and cultural celebration.
Originally from Florida, GuillĂ©n draws her inspiration from the natural landscapes and organic forms that surround her. Her artwork narrates her parents’ immigration stories from Cuba and El Salvador, utilizing creativity to foster community connections. She previously contributed to the Project WE initiative for Old Navy in 2021.
The Manuela Guillén + Starbucks collection is currently available for purchase at select Starbucks locations across the United States.
