After winning an Academy Award for her performance in Room, Brie Larson expressed her admiration for Jennifer Lopez at the 2024 Golden Globes last Sunday (January 7), creating a touching moment for the versatile star.
During an interview on Apple Music 1’s The Zane Lowe Show, Lopez shared with the host the significance of the encounter with Larson on the red carpet. Larson revealed that the movie Selena inspired her to pursue acting and applauded Lopez’s work ethic.
“It brings tears to my eyes now because it’s very touching,” expressed Lopez. “You pour your heart and soul… as an artist. When I looked at Brie… I saw her, and I was simply gazing into her eyes. She was completely focused on me and said, ‘I have wanted to express this to you for so long.’”
Lopez recalled experiencing similar emotions as a young girl when she witnessed Rita Moreno’s performance in the 1961 musical West Side Story. In her brief conversation with Larson, Lopez reminisced about that young girl.
“I saw myself, and I saw the little girl,” JLo recounted. “ToBelieve I carried out that for someone was truly overwhelming. It was incredibly delightful to have such an encounter. Never did I envision having an encounter with someone so skilled. What she did was a remarkably generous gesture, and it held significant meaning for me, quite possibly even more so than for her.”
