The governments of Latin American countries like Mexico and Brazil have started to send airplanes to evacuate their citizens from Israel after an unprecedented attack by Hamas on Saturday (October 7).

According to CNN, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is sending two planes to evacuate 300 Mexican citizens stranded in Israel. López Obrador said their country’s “diplomats are acting to protect Mexicans.”

Sites like Sky Scan World are reporting that both flights are on their way.

This comes just as it’s reported that 3 Mexicans are missing or assumed abducted and López Obrador said, “More than condemnation, what is required is a search for peaceful solutions, that there is dialogue and that further confrontation and violence is avoided.”

It’s also being reported that Brazil sent two planes with four military planes scheduled to follow, to begin evacuating approximately 1,700 Brazilians in Israel, most of them tourists, through the Egyptian border.

Argentina’s foreign minister, Santiago Cafiero, said on Monday (October 9) that 235 Argentinians requested through a government registry to be evacuated. He also provided additional information on how to register for assistance by saying, “How to register? Sending your data via email to [email protected]

The Colombian consulate in Tel Aviv has also provided information about options for the 180 Colombian tourists currently stranded in Israel. And they advise Colombians to contact the emergency line Colombian Consulate in Israel at +972 542349992 by phone and at [email protected] by email.

CNN is reporting that Peru’s government is also working on a plan to evacuate the 100 Peruvian citizens currently in Israel. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Peru also provided information about how Peruvians can get assistance while in Israel, “We reiterate the contact methods to respond to requests for assistance from Peruvians in Israel.” They shared a Google Forms link here.

At this moment, over 30 Latin Americans are reported missing or assumed abducted.
