Calibash, the renowned reggaeton concert, is making a comeback to Los Angeles, CA next year with a fresh event specifically tailored for música mexicana enthusiasts. The lineup for the new edition, Calibash MX, was disclosed today (Oct. 25).
Calibash is an annual reggaeton music concert that usually spans over two days in January. However, next year it will be shortened to a single day to accommodate the inaugural Calibash MX concert, presented by SBS Entertainment, LaMusica, and Mega 96.3 FM.
Billboard reported the lineup for Calibash MX, taking place on Saturday, Jan. 13. The performers include Mexican-American groups Yahritza y Su Esencia, Conexión Divina, and Grupo Frontera. Mexican artists Edgardo Nuñez and Yng Lvcas, recognized for their reggaeton hit “La Bebe” with Peso Pluma, will also grace the stage.
In a statement, Alessandra Alarcón, president of SBS Entertainment, expressed her excitement about Calibash MX, stating, “Mexican music has swept global music charts, and our generation is revitalizing some of the genre’s major subgenres. The corrido-boom, as we like to call it, inspired us to expand the Calibash franchise with Calibash MX, a live concert that will showcase some of the hottest artists who are infusing a unique and special touch to various kinds of Mexican music.”
The Calibash reggaeton concert will take place the day prior, on Friday, Jan. 12, at the Crypto.com Arena. Colombian sensation Feid will headline the concert, along with Puerto Rican icon Yandel. There’s a possibility they may perform their global hit “Yandel 150” collaboratively. Young Miko will also grace the stage that night, potentially joining Feid for their song “Classy 101.”
The remaining lineup includes Farruko, Prince Royce, Darell, and Maria Becerra. Tickets for both Calibash and Calibash MX will be available for purchase this Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 a.m. PST.
